Colonial Days
Colonial Days
The 2nd grade students participated in a Colonial celebration at the end of their social studies unit on early America. They made hasty pudding, sampled recipes, made rag dolls, played colonial games and even wrote on hornbooks using quill pens.

Father Kevin is visiting each classroom talking about how to spend our time in the new year. He is blessing the symbols of time, clocks, watches, and calendars.

NEW! HGS Wins Target Field Trip Grant

Holy Ghost School has been awarded the Target Field Trip grant for 2012. This grant will be used for an Architecture Tour in the Spring.

3M Star in the Classroom Award 2011

Rose Kaspar, our 7th grade teacher will receive the 3M Star in the Classroom Award. The award recognizes educators who have incorporated economic education into the classroom. Congratulations!

Feed My Starving Children

Our eighth grade students received a certificate for participating in packing meals for Feed My Starving Children. Our students packed 13,392 meals that will feed 37 kids for an entire year!

Econ Illinois Winner

Congratulation to 8th Grader Jaclyn for her winning economics poster for the Econ Illinois contest. Her artwork will be printing on the 2012 calendar along with 11 other State winners to be distributed by Econ Illinois.

Student Work Selected for Green Screen Adventure

Our very own Mrs. Fink (PE teacher), has won the PE Central Bulletin Board contest. Her Motocross board will be published online at http://www.pecentral.org/bulletinboard. She has also won a gift certificate for her efforts.

HGS Wins Web Design Grant

HGS is the proud recipient of a grant (value approx. $4,000) of web design software to expand our Media Art Program.

HGS Earns WCU Grant

Holy Ghost School is the recipient of a $500.00 matching grant from Western Catholic Union. The money will support our new engineering program.

HGS Won Target Field Trip Grant

HGS was awarded the Target Field Trip Grant that was used to take students to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

HGS Won Adobe Software Grant

HGS was proud to accept a grant (value approx. $4,000.00) of digital editing software to expand our Media Arts Program.

Drug Forfeiture Grant

HGS received a grant from the State Attorney's Office under the Drug forfeiture Grant Program. The money was used to provide a drug awareness prevention program for the Junior High students.

Earth Day Flag

By participating in acts of environmental services throughout the year, HGS has received the Earth Day Flag.

HGS Wins $10,000 BP Grant

HGS won a $10,0000 grant from BP. This grant was used to teach student skills in protecting the environment.

HGS Wins Picturing America Grant

Picturing America is a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts that brings prints of masterpieces of American Art into the classroom.
